The Andreasstraße memorial and educational site is located on Erfurt's Domplatz in a former prison that housed a remand prison of the Ministry for State Security (MfS or “Stasi” for short) during the GDR era. The memorial is dedicated to the former political prisoners and the people who first occupied a “Stasi” district administration here in 1989.
